Ok. If you are ever on Center Street in Provo, Guru’s is a must. It has the perfect location, in the heart of downtown Provo, and has so many different options for all varying types of palates. They offer vegan, vegetarian, and of course, carnivore dishes. They have soups, salads, pizza, burritos, and pretty much everything else you can think of. The menu can be overwhelming, so here’s my hint of where to start. I have gotten several different dishes at Guru’s, but I always come back to the same three things. The Napa Valley Waldorf Salad, the Curry Quesadilla, and Sweet Potato Fries.
The Napa Valley Waldorf Salad is fresh and packed with everything I want in a sweet salad. It has grilled chicken, grapes, apples, candied walnuts and blue cheese, all topped with a balsamic vinaigrette. Even just this list of ingredients sounds delicious, but this picture does it even better justice.
For several of Guru’s dishes you can choose to have the ‘half’ or ‘full’ size, and let’s be honest I always get the full size because it is delicious. Also, this salad is pretty light, so the full size better fills me up.
Next on the list is the Curry Quesadilla. Let me tell you, the Curry Quesadilla has been my favorite since I first came to Guru’s. It is a giant quesadilla filled with zucchini, squash, carrots, edamame, mushrooms, cashews and some sort of curry powder. And it is good. It is packed with veggies, but not overly packed. It is just the right amount and is very flavorful.
And last, but certainly not least, the Sweet Potato Fries. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Guru’s has the best sweet potato fries in Provo. I said it. Fight me if you want, but these fries are good. Also, they come with a Southwest fry sauce which ties it all together. A meal at Guru’s is not complete without these fries.
Next time you are at Guru’s, you’ll no longer need to be overwhelmed by the length of the menu, you’ll know exactly what to get. Take my word for it and let me know if you agree.
